| This guide was an original booklet published by Worth Abbey in 1993. It
was written by the late Dom Bernard Moss. It was created online and slightly updated by Jason P. Kitcat in 1997.Here follows the original
note: I am greatly indebted to many people who have provided materials relating to the past and to the buildings, especially my Benedictine brothers, the late Maurice Bell, Roger Bacon, Philip Gaisford, and Mark Barrett. For the construction of the Abbey Church, I have drawn on an article by the architect, the late Francis Pollen AADipl, FRIBA, which was published in "The Worth Record" of Autumn 1966, and another of Summer 1967 by Raymond Cousins, BSc, Senior Engineer on the site. I have leaned heavily on those who have compiled earlier guide books, notably Dom Ian Condon, Dom Christopher Jamison and Jonathon Monckton. Many others have contributed valuable suggestions and useful criticisms. I am particularly grateful to those who supplied photographs and artwork including Fathers Stephen and John, along with several contributors to the "Worth Record". Dom Bernard Moss |
